On National Bow Tie Day, the University of Idaho Library Special Collections and Archives salutes the use of this accessory to complete a dapper ensemble. Judge James H. Forney, one of the UI’s founders and a member of the earliest board of regents, sported one.
As did University of Idaho comptroller and president’s executive secreatary LaFayette Russell Parsons.
The bow tie was first introduced as a form of neck wear in the 17th century.
