Moo to you, Vandals!

It’s National Milk Day and University of Idaho Library Special Collections and Archives salutes the delightful bovine providing the cream in our coffee and milk for our cereal. Pictured below is Idaho Piebe Quality, a Holstein producing record quantities of milk from the herd kept at the Dairy Farm and Creamery at the U of I in 1934.

Holsteins were first established at the U of I in 1911 with a herd of 50 cows.Students at the Palouse Research, Extension and Education Center Dairy Center, part of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, continue to study and work with Holsteins today.
